WORLD OUTREACH
Zechariah 7:5 calls us to "administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to
one another." The above are signs of how this church has been about that effort. But
the job is not finished! There are still those with physical need crying for attention,
those with psychological and emotional needs demanding help and those who need
the spiritual blessings of forgiveness, healing and salvation that Christ offers.
Although we are not able to give help on an individual basis to those in need, we do
support the community agencies who provide these services with ongoing
contributions and hands-on service.
Day Center for the Homeless and Night Shelter...
provides shelter and quality basic support services for homeless
people within the Tulsa and surrounding area. The Day center serves
more than 400 people each day and the Night Shelter provides
lodging for more than 65 people nightly. Services include showers,
clothing, laundry, mail, and message service, storage for
belongings, bus tokens to medical appointments and jobs, case
management, and health screenings and TB testing by volunteer
nurses.
John 3:16 Mission...
first opened its doors to Tulsa’s homeless population in October of 1952. From this beginning the Mission has
continued to grow and change to meet the needs of hurting people of the 90’s. Their goal is to take the
life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to homeless and at-risk men, women and children of our
community, endeavoring to meet their physical, spiritual and emotional needs. This is accomplished through the
offering of several services which include: chapel, homeless shelter for men, on site hot meal program, job
readiness program, family & youth ministry services, and "Klothes 4 Kids" program.

Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa...

with nutritious home-delivered meals and caring, friendly contacts from Volunteers. This ministry services
metropolitan Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Jenks, and Glenpool. It is made possible by utilizing over 2,500
volunteers and the cooperation of more than 140 churches, local businesses, and civic groups to provide the
services.

institutionalization of older adults by providing a safe and protective environment in which the participant
remains as independent as possible. Their goal is accomplished by providing services to older adults who
cannot function safely at home alone. They serve the Tulsa and surrounding area by providing a safe, nurturing
environment. They also support the caregivers by giving them much needed respite. Some of their services
include bathing, and other personal care services such as permanents, shampoo and sets, shaving, and any
other activity of daily living that the participant is unable to complete at home. They also provide necessary
Social Services for the families of participants which includes finding community resources that the family needs
to prevent premature institutionalization.

Oklahoma Conference of Churches...
is a state-wide community of major Christian communions that confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of all.
Member churches have covenanted with one another to make the unity of Oklahoma’s churches visible,
bringing a common witness, mission and study. Officials from the participating communions gather in prayer to
explore social and political issues of mutual concern. Their objective is to bring a concerted response whenever
and wherever appropriate. They encourage local communities throughout our state to work, pray and act
ecumenically, making visible the love, justice, and hope of Jesus Christ to one another and to God’s world.

Phillips Theological Seminary...
was founded in 1907, the same year that Oklahoma achieved statehood. At that time it was called " The College
of the Bible" offering graduate education to men and women preparing to become ministers of the new frontier
churches that were springing up in Oklahoma. For much of its early history, Phillips Theological Seminary was
part of Phillips University named in honor of Thomas W. Phillips, a Pennsylvania benefactor. The old "College of
the Bible" was renamed "The Graduate Seminary of Phillips University" in 1954. In 1987, the seminary became
separately incorporated as a free-standing institution named "Phillips Graduate Seminary." Through the years
both schools were located on the same campus in Enid, Oklahoma. A second seminary campus was opened in
Tulsa adjacent to The University of Tulsa in 1986. In 1997, the seminary began combining both of its campuses in
Tulsa. Regrettably, the University declared bankruptcy in 1998, and sold its campus. Phillips Theological
Seminary, however, still maintains the mission of early founders, and proudly continues the "Phillips" heritage.
There are currently 170 students enrolled in three graduate programs: Master of Divinity, Master of Theology,
and Doctor of Ministry. There are thirteen professors, ten adjunct faculty, and eleven administrators. The
1999-2000 operating budget is $2.5-million. PTA has an endowment of $4.5-million.
